This area offers you plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and shopping. You might even catch one of the many spectacular festivals. Ponte de Lima has one of several good golf courses in the area. It is 33 km. from The English House and discounts can be obtained with our card. We also run special golfing packages - ask for details. Close by to Ponte de Lima there is also a lake area designated to conservation of birds and wild-life where designated walks are laid out and cycles can be hired. There are also excellent opportunities for horse-riding and cycling. A nearby mountain range where a major road takes you over the mountain from Covas to Caminha and beyond is an ideal route for bird-watching and walking and there is an information centre and a beautiful picnic area on route. Slightly further afield is the beautiful Peneda-Gerês National Park.
The Rio Coura runs from Paredes de Coura into the estuary at Caminha, where it meets the Rio Minho. Both rivers contain trout. Canoing and kayaking are also available on the Rio Minho by a personal link with Galician Adventures in Spain.
